Our Mission
Building a movement to end LGBTQ youth homelessness in Kalamazoo County
As many as 40% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ. This vulnerable population is at high risk of drug use, depression, HIV/AIDS, and human trafficking. Collaborating with youth serving organizations to provide a broad continuum of services, OPS provides case management care for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ), as well as, questioning and non-conforming identified youth age 13-24.
What Does That Mean?
OPS works to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth in Kalamazoo. Working closely with a coalition of local youth serving organizations, OPS provides case management services, LGBTQ competency training, and support.
